Expert executive functioning coaching
Ordered Thinking is built on an individual-centered philosophy. My coaching practice is dedicated to helping each person develop a deep understanding of their unique strengths, challenges and preferences. I believe one size does not fit all, and my passion lies in guiding clients to discover and apply tools that genuinely work for them. By identifying and building on individual strengths, we create a strong foundation for academic, personal and professional success. As a solo practice, Ordered Thinking serves a limited number of clients, ensuring that each person receives focused attention and personalized support.
Rachel Sushner, MS Ed. brings over 20 years of experience helping individuals reach their goals. She is known for her thoughtful, collaborative approach and the strong relationships she builds with students, adults and families. While much of her work has centered on high school and college students, Rachel also works closely with adults as they navigate academic, professional and personal growth.
With extensive experience supporting individuals diagnosed with ADHD, ASD and other learning differences, Rachel has guided countless clients in discovering their potential. She also works with those without formal diagnoses, believing that everyone can benefit from personalized strategies and support. Rachel is especially valued for her ability to recognize and celebrate each person’s uniqueness, creating coaching approaches that are personalized, practical and empowering.
Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Science in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University.
Ordered Thinking offers executive functioning coaching to meet the needs of students at all levels. Ongoing executive functioning coaching is offered as regular sessions. Session packages focused on isolated skill development and specific goal setting/planning are also available. Consistent with Ordered Thinking's philosophy, all services are customized to meet the unique needs of each client.
All services begin with a free 15-minute call to learn more about the services offered and my philosophical approach. During this call, we will discuss your goals and determine if we are a good fit for each other.
During the intake process, you will complete an intake form to provide some basic information and a brief history. This will be followed by a 30-minute meeting for additional discussion and sessions will be scheduled.
Executive functioning coaching is scheduled at an interval that works best for each client. Generally, clients meet twice weekly. Targeted goals are developed, and sessions are devoted toward progress with these goals as well as explicit strategy/skill work and system maintenance. Reflection is an important component of client growth and is an ongoing area of focus.
The ultimate goal is to help clients build greater independence. While the path looks different for each individual, the long-term aim is to gradually reduce the level of support. This is typically achieved by establishing a strong foundation of self-awareness and skills through comprehensive services at the start.
“I’ve been working with Rachel, an incredible executive functioning coach, for over two years. It has completely changed the way I “do life.” With her guidance and support, I’ve learned to organize my days and manage a life that once felt overwhelming, chaotic, and unmanageable. Rachel has helped turn that chaos into routines, systems, and schedules that actually stick. She somehow keeps track of every plan, idea, and system we create, holding me accountable in a way that’s both supportive and effective. As someone with an ADHD and autistic brain who spent most of my younger life without the tools or understanding to build proper executive functioning skills, I finally see the value in strengthening this area—and now I can’t imagine not working on it. I continue to work with Rachel because her support and expertise make it possible for me to keep growing, learning, and building a life that’s more structured, manageable, and mentally easier for me to follow through with!”

“After years of struggling through school, my son was diagnosed with mild ADHD as a high school sophomore. We had hired many tutors and they all just frustrated him more. His experience with Rachel was different and, in a nutshell, working with her changed his life. He went from being a C student (with some Ds) to an A student (with some Bs) in just a few months, boosting his self-confidence greatly. Rachel equipped him with the skills to stay organized and now he is heading off to university confident he'll do just fine. Given the turnaround in his grades, it was no shock when at the dinner table one night he called Rachel the "GOAT" -- greatest of all time.”

"Rachel has worked with our ASD high schooler for the past year on time management and scheduling of homework; perhaps our child's least preferred tasks. Rachel goes above and beyond to both engage our child and bring greater self-awareness about the need to manage time. Sessions with Rachel are not just about getting this week's and the next week's homework done, but about learning the life skills our child will need in college and beyond to manage time. She is extraordinarily patient and will check in with our child outside of scheduled session times to make sure work is being done. She gets our kiddo and happily provides us with helpful advice to better support our child. It will be a long road for us, but we do see that our child has started to incorporate some of the techniques Rachel has been teaching. It is very clear that she is 100% committed to seeing our child succeed in life."

"My child went from struggling with executive functioning skills—which affected his performance in school—to being recommended for honors-level classes. Over the years, there have been many moving parts, but the one constant has been Rachel. She has helped him learn to advocate for himself, grow as a student, and build real self-confidence."

"My role as a senior software engineer at a top tech company changed from working on a single product to consulting with many customers at the same time, and I found I was struggling to maintain the deep focus needed to make progress on any one project. Rachel helped me develop techniques, work rhythms and a mindset tailored to my specific (and constantly changing!) work environment. I highly recommend working with her to discover how to break through any obstacles keeping you from achieving success (with less stress) in your field."

"We are absolutely thrilled to have found Rachel! Since our son began working with Rachel on a weekly basis, he has transformed from feeling "lost" in his academic routines to becoming a more organized and self-aware teenager. Rachel has a remarkable understanding of our son and consistently strives to help him improve his time and task management skills. We highly recommend Rachel to any parent seeking an executive functioning tutor for their child."
